Havurah Shir Hadash : Ashland Oregon

In 2001, the Havurah was one of two major Jewish Congregations in Southern Oregon looking to expand and update its facilities. Originally housed in a trailer-style building and bursting at the seams, the congregation wanted to expand their physical space to meet the needs of their growing community. The renovation and expansion included a new functional and well-lit sanctuary (both naturally and with artificial light), offices, additional classrooms, and kitchen remodel. Their tight budget forced the project team to keep the expansion, materials, and systems modest, while still meeting their functional, aesthetic, and traditional needs. Construction costs were kept close to $100 / s.f.
